Making your dog’s treats at home means you get to control the ingredients, while also making your dog feel like royalty!

In these Apple and Pumpkin Pie Cupcakes for Dogs you will find the following nutritious ingredients to keep your furry friend healthy and wagging their tail each time you make this recipe:

  • Pumpkin: Pumpkin is great for your dog’s digestive health. It’s a rich source of fiber and can help keep our pet’s regular as well as being a great source of beta carotene.
  • Apples: The saying “An apple a day keeps the doctor away” is for a reason! Apples are super healthy for both people and dogs. They are loaded with antioxidants and phytonutrients that may help protect your dog against chronic diseases such as cancer and heart disease. Apples are also great for freshening your dog’s breath, they are rich in fiber and pectin and support a healthy digestive system.
  • Coconut Flour: I am always trying to include grain-free flours in my recipes since many dogs have a grain sensitivity. Coconut flour is a great option and since it’s very absorbent, a little goes a long way.

Makes: 6 Muffins

  • ½ cup of coconut flour
  • ½ cup of pure organic pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie filling)
  • 1 red apple (preferably organic), peeled and finely chopped
  • ½ cup of organic, unsweetened apple sauce (be sure the applesauce you use contains apples and nothing else)
  • 1 large egg (preferably organic) or 1 flax egg (1 Tbsp. of flax meal mixed with 3 Tbsp. of warm water)
  • ¾ cup of filtered water
  • 1 Tbsp. raw honey or maple syrup
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • ¼ tsp. ground cinnamon
  1. Start by preheating the oven to 350 degrees F and lining a muffin tin with muffins liners.
  2. Next, combine all the dry ingredients together in a mixing bowl.
  3. Add in the pumpkin, apple, applesauce, flax egg, water, and raw honey and stir well.
  4. Pour the mixture into the lined muffin tins and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  5. Allow the cupcakes to completely cool before removing them from the pan.
  6. Top with pure pumpkin puree if desired and store leftovers in the fridge.

I hope that your dog loves these Apple and Pumpkin Pie Cupcakes for Dogs and that, as always, this delicious recipe helps your canine companion live the healthiest, happiest life possible.

  1. I did not see where the 1 red apple was added. Is it added to the batter before baking for added texture?
